That's super unexpected. If the relay doesn't make a difference then I suspect there is no power going to the relay. Check the 60A fuse F45 in the junction box (or F171 for cars with trailer module) Or the relay doesn't receive the enable signal. The enable signal goes through a 5A fuse F127 in the rear power distribution box.

I agree, the Bimmer ground strap is usually a braided cable connecting the Engine to the Chassis. It's possible that yours might be located from underneath the vehicle around the engine bay area. You may have to take off the splash protector to get a good view of that area. However, I believe that any suitable heavy gauge cable such as the
X5 E70 2010 Horn Relay. The horn has stopped working and seems like a relay issue. What I have done. Removed both horns and 1 is failed (high pitch) and the other works fine when conncted to 12v (low pitch). Removed airbag and horn connector which is working and generates an earth connection when pushed.
