My question is about an intermittent starting problem on a 2003 Ford Focus. It starts most of the time but on occasion when I turn the key to start it doesn't crank or anything. The odometer displays hashed lines but I don't know if the PATS light next to the hazard flasher button goes dark. The last expert told me to get a new key. Start at the battery connections, then where the cables are crimped / soldered to the cable connectors, and unfortunately the focus is notorious for its bad grounds.
