2. Dec 24, 2009. #4. i had this exact problem with my grande punto, and my car is booked in to have its steering column replaced which is costing me £650! my car has just gone out of warranty and is three years old, all i can say is get it checked as its not likely to be the electrics and there is no power steering fluid as the steering is 1. Battery Capacity Diminished. Far and away the number one reason that your Punto won’t start in the cold is the battery. A battery has two different ratings, cranking amps and cold cranking amps. Cold cranking amps are the batteries ability to start turn the engine over when it is cold. Battery capacity diminishes with time and use. Hi guys, I've had my 2007 Grande Punto Active 1.2 for 3 months now, and the airbag failure light keeps coming on, it has been to the garage several times for the same problem but it is still coming on. Also when it does come on, it is very hard to work the horn and sometimes my indicators don't work properly. Hi guys, basically my mums 56 plate grande is just eating up alternators.. Its had 3 fitted in the past 18 months and looking like its going to need another :bang: It makes sort of a high pitch whirring noise at all times, the car runs perfectly fine otherwise. Fiat grande punto 1.4 , Battery/Alternator problem So basically the other day after some very cold weather(not sure that matters) I went to start my car which I've had no problems with and I got the dreaded red battery light on the dash. Hi i have a fiat 2007 punto 1.9 l turbodiesel with 100000 kms and while driving one day battery light came on and power steering failed. Battery was good but alternator was faulty so decided to change it. I got the alternator off but it would not come out of the engine bay as the engine bay is FC6wuRA. Hi all I'm usually on the Bravo forum however a family member has a 1.4 8V active sport with battery flashing issues and no power steering under certain speed or with out city mode enabled. Done the usual search through posts and it seems to be a common problem usually but not definitively Apr 7, 2017. #2. Yes, earthing problems are common. Take a jump lead from the battery negative to the engine block (make sure electrical contact is good at each end) and try it. If it starts, you know it's the engine earth that has failed. Re: Alternator swap, how? First thing you need is a code reader and then go from there. Alternators hardly ever fail on Stilos and the power steering failure is nearly always linked to supposed alternator failure (it's still safe to assume insufficient power is being supplied to power steering though - which at least is a clue). At about 2 and a half thousand revs car shuts down. After a couple of minutes from cold car gets to 2 and a half thousand revs and cuts of till you ease off again. If you hold the throttle down in neutral it revs up and down on its own at about one se 2004 Fiat Punto 1.2 8v. Posted: Apr 17, 2018. Hi everyone basically my car is a 2006 grande punto.
